|PROFILE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat has introduced Five Years Integrated B. Com. LL.B. (Hons) Programme in the university campus from the academic year 2013-14. In due course, there would be a full-fledged Law Department with numbers of Law related programmes in the independent building with infrastructure and enough human resources.

The Legal Education Committee of The Bar Council of India has given approval to impart Five Years Integrated B.Com. LLB (Hons.) programme with an intake of two sections of 60 students in each section vide Letter No.:BCI/D/390/2013 (LE) dated 07-08-2013. The Government of Gujarat has also issued NOC to the university for this programme vide letter No.:DGJ/2013/1601/lch dated 13-05-2013.
At present, the programme is being conducted under the guidance of the Dean of Law Faculty & the Executive Committee. The university has appointed full-time faculty for each subject.
Since academic year 2012-13, the University has also introduced the LL.M. (Human Rights) Programme.
Department of Law released First Issue of Journal of Law on 11th March, 2014, Tuesday. The Journal was released by Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Dakshesh Thakar, Dean of the Law Faculty Dr. J. T. Desai and Syndicate Member and Principal Dr. V. B. Desai.
Honorable Vice Chancellor Sir appreciated this activity and advised to continue thepublication every year and to maintain the quality of Journal.
Department of Law has started the publication of Yearly News Letter from the academic year: 2013-14.
The University has also sent proposal to the Bar Council of India for permission to impart Five Years Integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Programme in the University campus.
The Department has its own Library as well as link with the central Library of the University.
The Students will have to take part in Legal Aid Clinic / Centre and 12 weeks Internship and will have to follow in prevailing syllabus suggested by Bar Council of India, University Grant Commission and University.
