Vibrant and Conducive Atmosphere for Research

Being one of the oldest departments on the campus it has one of the strongest research base. The department since its inception has over 40 research projects sanctioned by the apex bodies like the UGC, ICCR, ICSSR, corporate bodies like ONGC,NTPC IDBI,NACO and UNDP among others. The thrust areas of research have been themes related to Industry, agriculture, health and education. Currently the department is prominently known for the capabilities in research methodology related to social sciences. The faculty in the department is well versed in the use of statistical and econometric techniques for analyzing the cross section and the time series data pertaining to the various sectors of the economy. Faculties have created their own research data and literature in their own areas for the benefit of the teaching staff in the affiliated areas as well as the research students in particular.
