Naresh Shukla was born on 12th October, 1972 at Dhanala, Ta.: Halvad. He completed his higher education from Gandhinagar and attained the degrees of M.A., and Ph.D. from Bhasha Bhavan, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. His areas of interest are literature, painting, photography and astronomy. While graduating, he started writing short-story. The art of short-story writing attained maturity while he was in M.A., and he published short-stories in a magazine like Khevna. Simultaneously, he also published research papers in well-known magazines like Parab and Shabdasrushti. He, along with the support from his friends, published a magazine entitled Pachhaad which captured literary movements. Currently, he is the chief editor of Sahityasetu, an e-journal. After completing M.A., he got appointed as a part-time lecturer. He rendered his services as a Lecturer in Samarpan Arts College, Gandhinagar and Mahila College at Sola. Later, he joined Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) Gujarat Educational Service, Class-2. He kept on teaching in various academic institutions of the Gujarat state. Currently, he is rendering his services to the Department of Gujarati, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat since 2013. As a part of Creative Writing, he has published a collection of short-stories like Na Kehvayeli Vartao, Dang Diary as well as a memoir entitled Jenathi Hun Sarjaayo. His books on Criticism include Gujarati Dirgh Navlikao, Shabdpallav, Granthpallav, Parichayika, Subhash Shahna Ekankio, Sahitya ane Lokpriyata etc. His well-known books are Sahitya: Manasshastra, Samaajshastra ane Itihaas Sandarbhe, Sanshodhanshastra ane Sahityik Sanshodhan. He was the co-editor of Asmitaparv: Bhaag 1 to 10 as well as the editor of Kishoresinh Solanki: Shabd ane Sarjak. He is also a member of Board of Studies of Pathya Pustak Nirman, University Granth Nirman Board as well as of other Universities. He has an impressive record of organizing Sarjnatmak Lekhan Shibir every year since 2004. He has been training budding talents from across Gujarat into poetry writing, short-story writing, scriptwriting etc. He has been a linkage between students and scholars by organizing national level seminars, state level seminars and workshops as well as lecture series. He has delivered keynote speeches and lectures on different topics in various seminars and workshops organized in as well as out of Gujarat. Till now, he has guided and supervised 13 Ph.D. students. His core areas of interest are Gujarati Literature, Principles of Literary Criticism, Aestheticism and various -isms in Literature, interdisciplinary studies and research.
