Dr. Arun N. Pandya

Arun Pandya took his early education in Ahmedabad and Surat. He has been awarded doctoral degree on “Emerging Status among Garo Brahmins of Gujarat” under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) Parvez Abbasi, former Prof. and Head, Dept of Sociology, VNSG University, Surat. He started his career as a Research Assistant at Centre for Social Studies, Surat and worked in different projects. Dr. Pandya joined the Department in December, 1996. His area of specialisation is Social mobility and Sociology of marginalised communities. His current areas of interest are Sociology of change and development; and rural and industrial communities. Since, joining the department he has attended and participated in several International, National and regional seminars, workshops and conferences. He published research papers and also contributed in research projects on Human Development. Dr. Pandya has rendered his services to UGC in various capacities. He has been also rendering services in various universities in different committees and academic bodies. Under the guidance of Dr. Pandya, three Doctoral degree and one M.Phil. degree have been awarded. He is life member of professional bodies like All India Sociological Society and Gujarat Sociological Society.
