In due recognition of the contributions by the Department, the UGC entrusted the Department with the Centre for Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy under 11th Plan in 2007-2012. The Centre had successfully completed 8 research projects on vulnerable groups like the Dalit’s, minorities, women, migrant labourers, etc. The Department has organised five national conferences, four national seminars and workshops covering the theme like marginalization, gender and violence, globalization, social exclusion and inclusive policy and health, etc. From the year 2000 onwards, 09 students have been awarded the M.Phil. Degree and 30 students have been awarded the Ph.D. Degree. The Department has enrolled two foreign students to carry out doctorate programme, one of the candidates has already been awarded doctor of philosophy degree. Two foreign students have enrolled in Master of Social Work Programme, one of them has completed the degree. Moreover, one student is enrolled under the UGC Junior Research Fellow for carrying out Doctoral Programme in Social Work. The Department also offers guidance to students appearing for UGC-NET and GSET exams. So far 21 students have qualified the National Eligibility Test and 19 students in State Eligibility Test. To say the least, one student is awarded Post-Doctoral fellowship by the UGC.
